2019-2020 Tashua PTA

Executive Board

Meet your executive board members for the 2021-2022 school year:

Shannon Diaz, President: My husband, Efralim, and I have lived in Tashua for 11 years. Our family also includes two cats and a dog. I began my “PTA career” as Bingo co-chair in 2015 and have participated in many committees and have been a part of the executive board for 3 years as Treasurer and Treasurer Elect. I am an accountant and am currently working for Subway as the manager of the lease accounting department. In addition to the PTA, I volunteer as a girl scout leader and have been a catechist at Christ the King parish. My hobbies include reading and cooking. I am very excited to see the Tashua Community get back to a new and better normal after the last two crazy school years. My favorite part of volunteering with the PTA is getting to know parents, students and staff that embody our wonderful Tashua community.

Kiran Chhablani, Treasurer: We have lived in Tashua for over 3 years and love this community. I began my “PTA career” as a member in 2018 and a library volunteer. In 2019, I became the Room Coordinators Lead as well as the Book Fair co-chair. This year I’m adding the position of Treasurer. In addition to the PTA, I volunteer as the Education Committee co-chair with the Trumbull Community Women. My hobbies include reading and traveling (when I can). I am really looking forward to meeting more members of the Tashua Community and having a fabulous school year. I’m always available for questions or suggestions so reach out any time!

Susanne Carew, Secretary: My husband Sean and I have been Trumbull residents since 2007 and moved to Tashua a little over 2 years ago from the Frenchtown district and absolutely love our school. We both volunteer whatever time we can in the school and classroom and are looking forward to this year being a year we collectively bring back the fun our Tiger Community deserves; we’ve all earned the joy that comes with shared sacrifice! I have worked in the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device field for the past 25 years and just celebrated my 20th year as a Clinical Project Manager at Boston Scientific. In my spare time I love baking and having friends and family over (although I’m a bit of a rusty host, post COVID…). As Secretary, I look forward to getting to know more parents and working together to strengthen the parent/school relationship.

Lisa Stein, VP of Fundraising: My husband, Alex, and I moved to Trumbull 3 years ago from Stamford just in time for our oldest son to start Kindergarten at Tashua. I have been a member of the PTA since 2018 and just this past year took on the role as head of fundraising & also worked part time at Tashua as a Lunch Aide. I have previously worked in product management for companies such as Vineyard Vines, Conair and Melissa & Doug. My favorite part of volunteering with the PTA is meeting new parents & staff and being a part of building a strong Tashua community. I truly enjoy giving back to others and am excited to help raise funds again this coming year to better our school. Please feel free to share any fundraising ideas or feedback with me to help in making this year a successful one!

Denise Altro-Dixon, VP – Membership: I joined the PTA because I believe providing our children the best possible education includes community involvement and support for students, families and school staff.

Christine El Eris, VP – Communications: She and her husband Fred Petrossi moved to Trumbull as newlyweds 21 years ago. She works as a Product Director for Fiserv, a global financial technology and payments company, helping banks and credit unions to prevent credit card fraud. Before becoming a mom she volunteered with the Board of the Trumbull Historical Society. She currently serves as an Alternate on the Board of Finance. She joined Tashua PTA when her children entered Kindergarten and has been impressed with all that the PTA does to provide enrichment opportunities for students and support for teachers and parents. She looks forward to helping out in a more substantial way this year. Outside of her work, parenting, and volunteer service responsibilities Christine listens to lots of history podcasts.

We have a very full calendar planned and will need lots of parent volunteers to make the year successful. Please take a moment and complete the below interest survey with volunteer activities including the opportunity to co-chair a committee. More specifics will be provided closer to the date of events, but if you are interested in hearing more about opportunities please complete the form at the link below and someone will contact you:
