September 2015

Dear Parents/Guardians:

We had an amazing first day of school! As soon as the children entered the building, they quickly filled the hallways with laughter, cheer and excitement for a new year of learning. After the students all greeted each other in their classrooms, our day started with a school-wide spirit assembly. During the assembly, our students were welcomed back and we reviewed some of our school policies and procedures. At the end of the assembly, our kindergarteners and our new students learned our school song!

I would like to thank all of you for taking the time to make sure your children were so prepared for school! It was a pleasure to visit each classroom and see big smiles on the students’ faces; all of them displaying an enthusiasm for learning! I would also like to thank the parents who have volunteered to help us this week at the start of the day and at dismissal time. This extra support will help us to start the year successfully!

As building principal, I am very proud to announce that one of our third grade teachers, Sally Kenler, was selected as the 2016 Trumbull Public Schools Teacher of the Year. This award is well-deserved and we are extremely honored that she will not only be representing Tashua School as our teacher of the year, but also our entire district. Ms. Kenler’s positive energy and enthusiasm for teaching not only permeate her classroom but also extends throughout our entire school. She is an outstanding teacher who truly understands her students not only as learners but also as individuals. She is a passionate educator who communicates this enthusiasm to her students. Not only has Ms. Kenler been successful in establishing a strong rapport with the students in her class, but she has also been able to develop positive relationships with our parent community. Congratulations to Ms. Kenler!

I thank you for your continued support and I look forward to working with you during the 2015-2016 school year to continue to build on the safe and positive school community that we have created for our students. See you at Back to School Night on September 10th.

Fondly,

Jennifer J. Neumeyer
