September 2013

Dear Tashua Families and Visitors,

We have had a wonderful start to the school year! The students have settled nicely into their new classrooms and a buzz of productive learning can be heard pouring out into the hallways.

At Tashua School, we strive to create positive learning environments where students are encouraged to try their best daily!  As we have shifted our instruction to the Common Core State Standards, our students are now being asked to rise to the challenges of these rigorous learning objectives.  To prepare our learners, our district has reviewed curriculum documents and revised district assessments to ensure alignment to these standards.  Our dedicated teachers have attended professional development sessions, read professional journals and participated in collaborative planning sessions to prepare for meaningful instruction.

This is going to be an exciting year for our students as we continue to add to our school climate.  As you may know, last year we developed our new school acronym T.I.G.E.R.S., to highlight the character traits we value: Tolerance, Integrity, Generosity, Empathy, Responsibility, and Self-Control.  In addition, we have a new school song, new school pledge and have changed our school colors to orange and blue.  The students, teachers, and community are full of school spirit!  This unity and excitement will only help our children to excel to higher social, emotional and academic levels.

We appreciate your support in having your child complete daily homework, practice math facts, and read nightly.  With these structures in place, your child will be prepared and ready to learn when they arrive at school each day.

We value strong family and school partnerships and we hope you consider becoming an active part of our school community by joining our PTA, Father’s Club and volunteering in your child’s classroom.   Your involvement will have a positive effect on your child’s educational experience.

I am always available for discussions, questions or suggestions.  Please feel free to call me, send an email or join us for a Coffee and Conversation.

We are looking forward to another successful school year!

Best regards,

Mrs. Neumeyer

Interim Principal of Tashua School
