Academic Excellence Committee Description

Chair: Susan Charamut

Date usually held: Meetings are held the first Friday of the month at 7:45am in the Media Center at Tashua.

Description: This committee works with teachers and the principal to advocate for academic changes and parent education.  Usually this committee concentrates on one subject area a year.  The committee is, however, obligated to bring up academic parent concerns and facilitate communication between the school and parents.  This year we will be expanding the committee to include academic clubs and competitions.

Duties: Attend monthly meetings and coordinate parent volunteers and publicity for committee events.

Characteristics/Skills Needed:
Creativity: Ability to develop new and interesting ideas.
Dependability: Can be counted on to complete tasks.
Organization: Can make a logical order out of many competing interests.

Resourcefulness: Finds inventive ways to complete a project.
Computer Literate: the ability to send/receive e-mails and create flyers.
Good communication skills: spelling and grammar are important.

Time Needed: Approximately 1-2 hours once a month.  There may be more time needed during the month before the yearly event. Total Time per year:  2 weeks

Lifespan of committee: One meeting per month and some follow up.  During the month of the main event there may be extra time commitments
