INTEGRITY
Our second Tashua TIGERS trait is INTEGRITY. Help your children practice and build this trait within themselves.
Below are some quick tips for how to build INTEGRITY in your children at home:
? Acknowledge and discuss mistakes that you make on a daily basis. Having children see that even as adults, we all make mistakes, and it is OKAY.
? Be honest and treat others the way you want to be treated. Kids will see how adults treat others by our tone of voice, the words we say, and the actions we engage in. Kids are sponges and will show expected behavior if they see it.
? Encourage your children to be kind to everyone, courteous, and patient. Provide examples on how to show this role model behavior since children are often concrete thinkers during their elementary years.
? Read books, play games, or watch movies/TV shows that point out “unexpected” or not so great choices that the characters make. And have an open discussion about how the character could make it better or could have made a better choice!
? Have a daily or weekly quote that can create discussion around the topic of integrity. A great quote is: “Integrity is doing the right thing, even when no one is watching” – C.S. Lewis
