The Counselor Corner ~ December 2017

With the holidays and New Year quickly approaching, this is a great time to sit down and
talk about GENEROSITY with your children. This is a great TIGER trait to help your
children understand.

Help your children show GENEROSITY by:

* Cleaning out their toys/games and donating them to a cause or charity.
* Cleaning out their closets and donating clothes, coats, shoes, etc.
* Having your children pick out a special toy to send to a family in need.
* Volunteer at a food kitchen during the holiday season.
* Donate canned goods and other nonperishable items to families in need.
* Teaching them the importance of sharing with siblings by passing down a special
toy or personal item that might make their sibling happy.
* Craft different projects and send them to people in need (ex: blankets for kids in
NICU or with cancer, letters of thanks to soldiers).
* Model appropriate reactions and expected ways to receive gifts (ex: Thank you very
much, Wow I’m really thankful to have someone so kind in my life like you)
* Read stories about characters who are generous “The Giving Tree” or “Rainbow Fish”.
