Summer Journaling Project

Summer Journaling Project

The Summer Journaling Project offers the opportunity to keep your children’s’ writing skills active over the summer! Children become authors and illustrators in a collaborative narrative. Beginning after the end of the school year, notebooks are circulated (at least one per grade, possibly more based on amount of interest).  Each student writes one page of a story and draws a small illustration.  The notebook is delivered by the first student to the mailbox of the second student on the list.  That student reads what has been written thus far and adds to the story by creating another page of writing and a picture.  The notebook circulates a few times among the group so that each student can see how the story progresses and what turns it takes.  In the end, each student is provided with a copy of the full story. (For kindergarteners, parents are welcome to have their child dictate the story and parents write it).  The final version lives in the Tashua Library.
