Student Service Council News ~ February 2018

The Tashua Student Service Council is working on two special projects this month. February 12-15 will be our Week of Kindness. Students will celebrate “Crazy for Kindness” day during this week and they will be able to dress in their craziest clothing and exhibit kindness all over the school. Students who participate will bring $1.00 which Tashua School will donate to hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico.
In addition, each classroom will read our new school-wide book, Ordinary Mary’s Extraordinary Deed, by Emily Pearson, with their buddy class and we will decorate a giant bulletin boards with special blueberries to celebrate our kind deeds. We will kick off these events at our Olympics closing ceremony on February 9th.
During the week of March 5-9 we are looking forward to our annual Week of Reading. Council representatives will help plan a full week of fun reading activities along with our annual fantastic used book drive. If you have gently used children’s books at home that you no longer use, kindly set them aside to bring in during our Week of Reading. We donate our books to Read to Grow Connecticut and last year, they were thrilled to receive 1,720 books from Tashua School!
