Student Council News – January 2016

December was an excellent month for our Student Service Council! Once again, our Holiday Helpers program was a spectacular success and the Trumbull Head Start program is so appreciative of the generosity of our Tashua community. Thank you to so many of you who provided gifts for the families. It is amazing to see all the huge bags of gifts at our assembly each December. Representatives and alternates also organized our first Winter Solstice event to help bring some light to the shortest and darkest day of the year. Students wrote announcements and shared information with their classes and their buddy classes. Tashua was full of neon colors and sparkles on that day. We are already looking toward Dr. Seuss’s birthday in early March. During that week, we will celebrate the importance of reading with some fun activities, including our book drive. If you have children’s books in good condition that you no longer want, please consider donating them to us in March. We give them to Read to Grow Connecticut and for the past few years, Tashua School has provided more books to them than anyone else! Representatives and alternates will be busy next month writing announcements, making posters and planning fun events for the week of reading.
