Updates from the Principal

October 2015

October 2015

Dear Parents/Guardians:

It certainly has been a festive start to the school year! I thank you for joining me in celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Tashua School. We are fortunate to have a school community that works together to not only prepare our students for success, but also takes time the time to celebrate our accomplishments. We have a student population that is well prepared for school, a parent population that is able to provide the resources our students need to be successful in school, and a phenomenal staff who is well prepared to challenge our students.

We look forward to having you visit us during our Visitations Days.

The following policies have been set by the district for Parent/Guardian Visitations:

Here are some ways you can help us from home:

  • We encourage a limit of 10-12 visiting parents/guardians in a classroom at a time.
  • Parent/Guardian visitations are not open to grandparents, infants, or pre-school siblings.
  • Cell phones and pagers must be turned off or set on vibrate while in the classroom.
  • Any photographing or videotaping is absolutely not allowed.
  • Coffee and food is not allowed in the classrooms.

We are asking parents to visit for only part of this visitation window. Classroom teachers will be emailing you with a sign-up sheet to inquire about your preferred time to attend. This will help us to limit the interruptions to student learning throughout the day. Remember, visitation hours are solely for parents/guardians; we will not be able to accommodate siblings and other family members. We thank you in advance for your understanding.

In addition, I hope you will be able to attend our first “Coffee with the Principal” on Wednesday, October 14th at 8:45 a.m. in the cafeteria. This is an opportunity to learn more about the events that are occurring at Tashua and to share your thoughts and ideas to further strengthen our school. I encourage you to attend as this is a great way to keep abreast of what is happening in our school community.

Halloween parties will be held in the classrooms on Friday, October 30th. We will also having our annual Halloween Parade at 2:30 on this day. If you would like to see the students in costume, you are welcome to meet us out on the playground as we march outside from A-wing to C-wing.

Each year we hold a Veterans Day Assembly to honor and thank veterans for their service and sacrifices. We invite several local veterans to be our guests of honor at our assembly. If you have a local family member or friend that has served in the armed forces that you would like our planning committee to consider inviting to be one of our guests, please contact Cat Lamy at: lamy@snet.net

Please remember to sign in at the office when you enter the building. All visitors must obtain a Visitor’s Badge. It is very important that every parent and visitor in our building, regardless of the length of time that will be spent in the building, follows this procedure. We feel that this policy is in the best interest of the safety of our children.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at NeumeyeJ@trumbullps.org or contact me at school at 203-452-4433.

Enjoy the fall season!

Mrs. Neumeyer
